Description   Senior Architect Job Summary: Overall leadership and management of the design department of a Design/Build organization that plans, designs and manages commercial and industrial construction projects to meet clients' desires, needs and financial resources. Maintains the planning master schedule of ongoing projects Management Responsibilities: " Delegates work t Designers and other appropriate employees " Manages all other design staff positions " Manages or delegates the management of outside consultants working independently on company projects Primary Job Responsibilities: " Delegates any of the following responsibilities to appropriate staff or consultants as workload and project complexity require. " Assigns projects based on office workload and individual capabilities and timelines. Sets appropriate deadlines. " Assists and performs pre-job constructability reviews on all projects at the schematic and construction document stages, which can include the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture and civil, structural and MEP engineering. " Master plans and schedules all design projects. Plans and schedules well enough in advance to meet deadline. " On assigned projects consults with clients to determine requirements for their project; determines with regard to style and materials. Prioritizes their needs and desires. " Responsible for the preparation of preliminary sketches of possible alternatives to assist clients in consolidating their thoughts and priorities. Presents preliminary plans for client review and approval. " Responsible for the development of detailed plans integrating engineering considerations. Presents detailed plans for client review and approval. " Identifies and verifies code compliance requirements for projects. " Works with estimating department to see that plans reflect clients' budget. " Submits assigned projects to code authorities and responds to any questions. Tracks project through to permit issuance. " Follows assigned projects through construction, reviewing construction progress to see it matches the intent during a project's construction phase. " Work collaboratively with Senior Construction Project Manager and General Superintendent to ensure a quality product is delivered in a timely manner. " Modify drawings, resolve discrepancies, update plans and provide other documentation as project progresses. " Uses usual and ordinary equipment associated with a business office and the architectural design industry. " Oversees the management o multiple projects simultaneously helping to establish goals for a project's specific phase of document completion in consultation with other office staff. " Manages the work of in-house design staff and outside consultants to ensure project documents are complete. This includes reviewing and correcting work of consultants. " Insures that design plans are accurate, thorough and timely in accordance with industry standard. " Build and maintain successful working relationships with owner/clients. " Keep President informed of changes as they occur. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): (Education and Experience) " Current Oregon architect licensure. " Professional Degree from school architecture. " Working knowledge of recent AutoCAD and Architectural Desktop software. " Proficient with Microsoft operation systems and software (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, ect.) " Excellent communication skills " Creative thinking ability and aesthetic sensitivity. " Significant level of overall experience in the design/construction field, specifically in industrial and commercial construction. Preferred KSA: " Excellent analytical and consulting skills. " Management, motivational and organizational skills. " Bilingual in English/Spanish (desired). Other Requirements: " Valid Oregon Drivers license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
