Senior Estimator
Job Summary: To develop cost estimates for projects and services related to Design/Build industrial and commercial construction projects. Develop, produce, and maintain production units according to industry standard.
Management Responsibilities:
" Analyze blueprints, specifications, CDPs, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, material, and labor estimates for projects and services.
" Perform quantity take-offs, footages and volumes from schematic and construction documents for self-performed items.
" Break down plan and project into parts and all materials and quantities necessary to complete the project.
" Prepares cost analysis by sum up material, labor, and overhead cost incurred.
" Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate using approved methods.
" Informs Project Manager of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in bill of materials and routing
" Prepare schematic budgets within 1-2 days.
" Prepare design/build and hard-bid estimates in 2 weeks; hard-bid estimates in 3 weeks
" Maintains records and files for all related source documents pertaining to product cost performance against standards, etc.
" Utilizes Timberline Estimating with proficiency to (a) load and copy phases/items quickly to spread sheet, (b) do take-off's, and (c) locate WBS codes and pricing strategies
" Perform job cost transfer/schedule transfer and buyouts
" Prepare and review Purchase and Change Orders as required per company policy
" Organize and schedule estimating work to meet all required deadlines
" Select vendors and subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness
" Consult with individuals and vendors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
" Assist sales with locating and researching bid opportunities through contacts, advertisement, and trade paper/magazine
" Assign bid responsibilities to appropriate staff
" Conduct weekly planning meetings with estimating staff
" Assist PMs with Buy-Outs on projects
" Prepare and review related documentation (i.e. RFI's, ASI, etc.)
" Update and maintain historical unit price and building comparison database
" Manage production cost accounting (staff & function) and ensure weekly updates are maintained.
Other Responsibilities:
" Attend pre-job estimating meetings or walks as requested
" Provide value engineering
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA): (Education and Experience)
" Minimum of 5 years experience in construction and estimating
" Professional education and/or certification in construction management and/or estimating
" Proficient with Microsoft operating systems and software (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
" Strong working knowledge of MS Project
" Strong working knowledge of Timberline Precision Estimating
" Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
" Excellent math skills
" Excellent communication skills
" Significant level of overall experience in the design/construction field, specifically industrial and commercial construction
Preferred KSA:
" Professional degree in related subject area
" Education and experience in human resources, management, and leadership
" Bilingual in English/Spanish

" Valid Oregon Drivers license, insurance, and reliable transportation |
