Description   DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR This position is best suited for someone possessing several years of database administration experience with a background in Microsoft SQL server administration, ETL and looking to grow their skill set in MS SQL Server 2005 database development and administration. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design and execute data extracts from SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005, database systems using tools such as SQL Server DTS • Monitor production loads and conduct root cause analysis for all load failures • Reviews and participates in data design, tool design, data loads, and presentation system design • Provides input, recommendations, and resolutions for technical issues • Analyze and understand business requirements to produce development deliverables that support and comply with design and architectural specifications • Perform periodic maintenance on existing databases including, but not limited to, SQL Server DTS, and Cognos tools (i.e., Upfront, Powerplay, Impromptu) • Actively address business unit requests, clearly communicating committments, issues, completion dates and status with the requestor and with management • May review technical work of other team members for quality assurance • Develop and implement process improvements • Identification and resolution of data integrity issues • Definition of the design and functionality of analytical reporting front-ends • Development and execution of system test plans • Participate in project delivery and roadmap development • Additional responsibilities will include data cleansing, data quality analysis and business rules automation • Other general database projects Desired Qualifications: At least four years working experience in a Database administration and support -‘ Must possess a good understanding of Database Administration concepts and strategies Experience in report design. and report development using enterprise Business Intelligence toolsets desired Experience in data integration methods from heterogeneous data sources, including legacy databases, employing data transformation standards and best practices Strong SQL skills required Must be self-motivated, have a strong team orientation, learn quickly and possess excellent Communication and interpersonal skills Must be highly committed to data integrity Solid analytical, problem identification and resolution skills Internal consulting, presentations and recommendations, end user education Proven track record for working effectively with technical and business functions Willing to assist team with daily monitoring when necessary Experience using enterprise scheduling tools (i.e. SQL Server DTS) Basic understanding of MS Reporting Services and MS Analysis Services also a plus
